CMS - Implementing ColdBox

August 19, 2008 – 11:44 pm

I’ve been working on the implementation of coldbox into our content management system. Currently, i’m still learning coldbox, but until now it has been working out nicely.

So why coldbox or any framework? Well, the framework provides organizational structure to manage application. For example, in fusebox, we differentiate layouts and action pages, which gives developers seperate facility to manage code without interepting design view. We are using similar structure, but now with ColdBox, i’m assuming it would be better.

Server is Backup

August 10, 2008 – 1:43 am

It has been a while since the server was down, maybe around a week now. I’ve temporory fixed the issue, i’ll be investigating in more details.

The issue was with registrar, i have the domain with Hostway, this is the first time i had bad experience with any regisrar. They are not able to update my name servers manually for some reason. They took around a week, and right now, they are still not able to upate the name servers.

Note to clients: I’ve fixed the issue for now, and i’ll stick with this issue until the dns is solved with Hostway. I’ll keep you updated.

UPDATE: I’ve rollbacked the content mangement system backup database for most of the clients. We do have some lost data, about past 5 days of data is lost. More information to be sent via email.

We are currently in the process to upgrade to cf8 and mysql 5. There are other patches being applied to the server.

UPDATE: Currently, there are some issues with database and coldfusion during the upgrade process in some parts of the application. The main website might go down as well.

UPDATE: 5:30 pm - Everything looks stable now, i’ll be testing for any issues with CMS and Exchange Application for any issues.

UPDATE: 11:00 - The server has been successfully updated to CF8.

I’ll post my CF8 projects available to public soon including CMS, Code Library, and possibly exchange application.

ColdBox

June 29, 2008 – 2:28 am

I’ve been looking into Luis’s framework known as ColdBox for a while. Recently, i decided to check it out. And it seems like it has plenty of documentation, which is good.

I’ve been using FuseBox (one of the classic versions) for a while. I thought it would be a good time to switch to something better.

Well, if you dont know coldbox yet, here is directly from their site, (ofcourse stealing it :) ):

ColdBox is a proven event-driven CFC based ColdFusion Framework, specifically designed for high availability web applications. The purpose behind ColdBox was to create a fast & stable development methodology for a team developers to use and share.

I would start learning and make some sample applications available to the coldfusion coldbox community soon.

Clean up Recent Projects in Visual Studio 2008

May 15, 2008 – 12:05 am

I was looking at my previous post on the visual studio on how to delete recent projects, with vs 2008, it’s almost the same. Once in a while i do use this clean up method to hide some of the unused projects.

On Windows, run regedit, then:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\ProjectMRUList

It’s very simple and straight forward.

I have updated the website with new look and feel. I got the new logo too.

Furthermore, the website is actually running on Splitzer Content Management System (CMS). The cms is almost complete, i’m still fixing some issues with Firefox browser. The target date to finish the cms was May 5th, and hopefully it would be done.

Massive automated SQL injection attack

May 2, 2008 – 4:37 pm

It appears that a massive, automated SQL injection attack is wrecking havoc across thousands of sites (600000+ pages and counting).

The attack apparently leverages Google to find candidates for vulnerable pages. The automated process then probes the candidate page for potential SQL injection vulns. If it likes what it sees (i.e. error messages directly from the sql server) it will immediately launch an all-out attack, injection SQL to find every text field in the database and append a malicious javascript to the value of every row. Learning Oracle

April 30, 2008 – 4:36 pm

I would start learning Oracle database in upcoming weeks. I’m planning on starting from 10g express edition, and going forward.

Few updates on the content management system. The cms project is underway as a final demonstration after next week. I’ll revamp this site’s front-end with the cms. Ofcouse, everyone would be able to see the front end on May 5th, if everything goes well.
